New tyres vol 1: XCO and XCM

Sulev Lipp

Technique, 22. April 2025

(Sulev): are you aware that Specialized has renewed its tyre range this spring. Practically the whole range was renewed - XCO, gravel segment and road tyres.

First of all, XCO and XCM - that is, cross-country racing and racing in different formats, according to the track, according to the rider's preference for the track:

AIR TRAK

The Renegade, which has done its job long and well, has been replaced and the new tyre is called AIR TRAK. Air Trak is available in two different sizes and with a different protection layer. The plies are called FlexLite (lighter) and GridLite (slightly heavier but more puncture resistant).

All in all, the new Air Trak range is as follows:

29x2.2 Flex Lite, 575g

29x2.35 Flex Lite, 585g

29x2.35 Grid Lite, 680g

FAST TRAK

The range of the other legendary tyre, the Fast Trak, has also been updated. Like the Air Trak, the Fast Trak has also been given a new compound, T7 on the edges and T5 in the middle (which rolls particularly well). The Fast Trak is also available in both FlexLite and GridLite versions (in fact, there is still a GridTrail and GridGravity casing, but these are already in the Trail and DH options respectively).

To summarise, the new Fast Trak range is as follows:

29x2.2 Flex Lite, 605g

29x2.35 Flex Lite, 615g

29x2.2 Grid Lite, 676g

29x2.35 Grid Lite, 690g

The new tyres were used by the Specialized Factory Racing team in Brazil for the first two rounds of the MK, and those in the know will know that we didn't do the worst ?

My own choice was initially Fast Trak, in 2.35 and FlexLite (and of course the tubeless version). This is because I'm looking for technical trails and good grip is paramount.

The very popular XCO and XCM series in Estonia will start soon. I wish you all a great season! ?

PS - new gravel and road tyres coming soon!
