VO2 Explorer presents: Heathland Gravel 2026
Heathland Gravel is an event created for true gravel road enthusiasts, combining a sporting challenge, international-level competition, and an authentic gravel experience. The heathlands of Maasmechelen, forest roads, and fast gravel sections create the perfect setting for one of the most memorable rides of the season. As an official European qualifier for Unbound Gravel, it adds special meaning to every kilometer.
Routes and Riding Conditions
Heathland Gravel welcomes gravel riders of different levels, offering flowing and fast-paced routes. The courses start and finish in Maasmechelen and run mainly along gravel and forest roads, with some faster hard-surface sections mixed in. The profile is moderately rolling, where pacing, rhythm control, and smart energy management play a key role.
There are three distances to choose from: 70km (350 meters of elevation gain), 110km (500 meters of elevation gain), and 160km (700 meters of elevation gain) — the official Unbound Gravel qualifying distance, which requires solid fitness and endurance. The VO2 Explorer team is happy to help you choose the most suitable distance and provide practical advice for your preparation.
